My name is Maja Svensson and I’m a Swedish milliner with a deep passion for creating unique hats and headpieces. From the blocking and shaping of felt and straw to the dyeing/painting and sewing of fabrics to create trimmings – I love every bit of it!
I attended my first millinery class in 2015 at The Academy of Cutting and Tailoring in Gothenburg and have since then developed my skills further at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation and in London. I’ve had milliners and artists Jane Corbett, Sarah Marshall (John Boyd Hats) and Anne Tomlin as my tutors and have also worked as an apprentice at John Boyd Hats in London. All my designs are handmade and handsewn from start to finish and I work with a diversity of materials.
My inspiration comes from modern and vintage millinery and fashion, nature, sculpture and art.
In 2022 I formally started up my business as “Maja S. Milliner”, based in Kristianstad, and offer both bespoke and ready-to-wear hats and headpieces.
